This is a tribute/throwback post to one of the hottest women that ever walked the earth.  Yup, she truly is.  Readers, an awful lot of you don’t know her (the young ones).  But that’s okay.  It is now time to introduce to you one of those who stayed on the top of the triangle.

Cynthia was an American model, actress, and Playboy magazine’s Playmate of the Month for the December 1968 issue.  She was voted the 10th Most Popular Playmate of the Century by Playboy Magazine in 2000.  She’s also been featured in Playboy’s Playmate Calendars 1970, 1971, and 1972.

Cynthia Meyers died of lung cancer at age 61 on November 4, 2011, in Los Angeles, California.

Her Early Life

Cynthia Jeanette Myers was born on September 12, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio.  She was raised by her mother Mary, her grandparents, and various aunts and uncles after her father died in a car accident when she was only four years old.  Growing up, she was s a competitive horseback rider. She was also working part-time then as a theater usher.

Career Journey

Cynthia was initially offered opportunities to model at age 14.  But in 1967 she began modeling for Detroit auto shows.  After her graduation from Woodward High School in 1968, she immediately became the Playmate of the Month for the December 1968 issue of Playboy.  She made regular appearances on the TV series Playboy After Dark (1969) and had uncredited bit roles in The Lost Continent (1968), and They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969).

“I was coming out of a swimming pool.  I was on a semester break from school.  Came out of a swimming pool in Miami Beach and a photographer asked me if he could take my photo.  I said “OK.”  The next day I was on the front page of the Miami Herald.  It was very flattering.  It was very nice.  I sent some pictures into Playboy that a friend took.  While I was in Florida, I talked to my mother every day to let her know I was safe and I was with another girl from school and we were having a nice time.  She said, “Playboy Magazine called.”

Cynthia achieved her greatest enduring cult cinema popularity with her portrayal of the innocent rock guitarist Casey Anderson in Russ Meyer’s gloriously outrageous Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970).  Her only other film role was a small but memorably sexy part as brash prostitute Dolly Winwood in the offbeat Western Molly and Lawless John (1972).

Cynthia continued to model as “Miss Earthquake” in magazine print ads for Cerwin-Vega stereo equipment in the early 1970s.

Hot Curiosities

Cynthia was the first Playboy Playmate born in the 1950s.  The pictures were shot in for the June 1968 was when she was only 17 years old.  Yup, but it was Playboy’s policy by that time to wait until a Playmate turned 18 before her pictures would be published.

Her centerfold was photographed by Pompeo Posar, which quickly became a favorite of American troops in Vietnam.  The centerfold appears in the 1987 film Hamburger Hill and in the 1989 film The Siege of Firebase Gloria.

According to Cynthia, she was only 13 when her breasts began to develop to the size 39 DD they were when she did her appearance in Playboy.

In 1994, it became known that a nude photo of Myers (along with fellow playmates Angela Dorian, Reagan Wilson, and Leslie Bianchini was scanned and inserted into Apollo 12 Extra-vehicular activity astronaut cuff checklists by the Apollo 12 backup crew (Dave Scott, Jim Irwin, Al Worden) at NASA.
