Her Early Life
Skin Diamond was born as Raylin Christensen on February 18, 1987, in Ventura, California. She moved to Scotland when she was three years old and lived there for her entire adolescent life. Skin grew up in Dunfermline where her parents worked as missionaries. Her father is American actor Rodd Christensen, who is famous in the UK for playing Spencer in children’s series Balamory. Skin did appearances in the series as a teenager, alongside her only sister, Heather. She left high school at 15 to pursue her education at Carnegie College for another four years, where she studied Art & Design, Dramatic Arts and Acting & Performance.
Skin is of Ethiopian, Danish, Czech, Slovakian, Polish, Hungarian and German descent.
Adult and Modeling Career
Skin Diamond began her career as an alternative model posing for GodsGirls before branching out into different aspects of modeling such as model (art) & working as a Fetish model posing for photographers in Europe and the US. Her unique look attracted the attention of a wide variety of photographers.
In 2009, Skin her shot her first adult film. Her first scenes were with Joanna Angel and James Deen for Burning Angel. Joanna offered Skin more hardcore work and an invite to The AVN Awards. It was at that show, that Skin fell in love with the industry.
The Story on How She In The Industry
As for the reason why the daughter of religious missionaries came into porn… Well, it not a rebel thing, really.
“I actually got into it by accident. My plan wasn’t to get into porn and to be a porn star. The opportunity kind of fell into my lap. I grew up in Scotland and I was going to fetish clubs in London and I was really involved in the fetish scene and Torture Garden and all that sort of stuff, so I was kind of doing risqué shoots anyway. Had modeled for Burning Angel before just doing a photo shoot and they asked me if I wanted to come to Paris and shoot some scenes. I was like, yeah I want to go to Paris, so I went and I did it. When I was there it wasn’t how you’d think a porn set would be it, it was just a bunch of friends hanging out, having sex and getting paid. I just kind of thought that was really cool.
“Honestly, I thought it was just so much fun so I shot all my first scenes – like my first girl-girl scene, my first boy-girl scene, my first anal scene – all in that one week because I didn’t ever think I would do it again. I was just kind of doing it for sh**s and giggles. Then fast forward a year when I was living in LA and very very broke, and not really doing anything else and the opportunity again just fell into my lap. I had a lot of fun with it so I thought, why not?”
Her Career Highlights
2011 was a turning point in her career as it was the year where she posed in an editorial campaign for i-D magazine’s “The Exhibitionist Issue No. 312” wearing Louis Vuitton and American Apparel. The next year, she posed for comic book artist David Mack, who portrayed her as Echo in the Marvel Comics miniseries Daredevil: End of Days.
In 2012, Skin Diamond won performer of the year at the 2012 Urban X Awards, and best Oral Scene and Best Double Penetration scene at the 2014 AVN’s.
In 2014, Skin was on CNBC’s list of “The Dirty Dozen: Porn’s Most Popular Stars”.
Diamond was the Penthouse Pet of the Month for July 2014. That same year, she made her directorial debut with the film Skin Diamond’s Dollhouse for Deviant Entertainment.
In 2015 Skin became Penthouse Penthouse Pet of the Year Runner-up.
The following year (2016), Skin performed in her last adult scenes to pursue mainstream acting and singing full-time after she was cast in the role of Dylan Quinn in the Showtime series Submission. It was also during this time period that she launched her music project… With the release of her first official single and music video (“Fire” produced by Ben Cole) under her real name, “Raylin Joy”.

Diamond first dabbled in the music industry with her 2013 song/music video, ‘Sex in a Slaughter House’. She wrote the said song as part of a scene for Brazzers. In 2014, Diamond also starred (with Allie Haze) in the music video for American hip hop recording artist B.o.B, for his song “John Doe”, which features Priscilla Renea.

Skin Diamond identifies herself as bisexual. She dated both girls and boys while in high school and were heavily into the metal scene at the time. Also, Skin didn’t lose her virginity until she was 17.
Skin has two piercings in her navel, and one in her right nostril. She is also notable for her distinctive shave-on-one-side haircut; because of this, she has been featured in the column “Beauty Showdown” in the magazine Cosmopolitan.
