Katie Morgan was born on March 17, 1980, in the Los Angeles suburb of Reseda.\u00a0 She was raised in an intensely religious family, was homeschooled, and had a difficult upbringing.<\/p>\n

Authorities apprehended her when she was 20 years old while attempting to smuggle 100 pounds of marijuana into the United States across the Mexican border.\u00a0 She was then imprisoned for the next four months at Arizona’s Douglas County Jail.<\/p>\n

Career Journey<\/h2>\n

After being behind bars for four months, Katie Morgan got out on bail and was waiting at home for her court dates.\u00a0 During this time, she viewed a lot of adult movies, and the notion of joining the industry struck her.\u00a0 She took the initiative and contacted an established adult movie actor whose phone number she had discovered while rummaging through a friend’s Rolodex.\u00a0 The adult movie actress gave Kate the contact information for an agency and advice on industry dos and don’ts.\u00a0 She later described the conversation as “the best counsel someone has probably ever given” her in her life.<\/p>\n

“I got into the industry in 2001.\u00a0 I was out on bail on federal importation charges, and I was bored and watching a lot of porn.\u00a0 One day while watching a Shane’s World party movie, it occurred to me that they weren’t having any fun, they were getting paid too.\u00a0 I did some research and a few days later walked into Jim South’s office and told him I wanted to be a porn star.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Katie had no idea she’d become a household name in those early days.\u00a0 She only wanted to make a few movies and make some money before going to prison.\u00a0 Her appearance in Ed Power’s ‘Dirty Debutantes 197’ not only helped her pay off her bail and plea deal but also inspired her to seek a full-time career in the adult film industry.\u00a0 Over the next seven years, she built up her filmography with projects such as \u2018Black Cravings 4\u2019 (2001), \u2018Babysitter 10\u2019 (2002), \u2018Mary Carey on the Rise\u2019, and \u2018Another Man’s Wife\u2019 (2007).\u00a0 In 2008, she retired from the business but the official announcement came a year later.<\/p>\n

In 2002, Morgan formed a long-term partnership with HBO. She hosted a number of shows for them.\u00a0 Katie even made a guest appearance as herself in 2008 on HBO\u2019s comedy-drama \u2018Entourage\u2019 (2004-11).\u00a0 In September 2015, she announced that she was returning to the adult film industry and had signed a deal with Nexxxt Level Talent Agency.\u00a0 Her recent projects include \u2018Along for the Ride\u2019 (2016), \u2018Vixens from Venus\u2019 (2016), and \u2018Lesbian House Hunters Part 14\u2019 (2017).<\/p>\n

In 2008, Katie Morgan met her future husband James Jackson.\u00a0 \u00a0They were both in relationships at the time, so just a friendship developed.\u00a0 Months later, on another movie set, they met again and each found that the other was single by then.\u00a0 Katie did not have to tell him what she used to do for a living as he already was well aware of her history.\u00a0 They got married in 2009.<\/p>\n

She chose \u201cKatie\u201d as her first name as it is also the first name of Scarlett O\u2019Hara, the protagonist of \u2018Gone with the Wind\u2019. She picked \u201cMorgan\u201d as her surname because of Captain Morgan\u2019s Rum.<\/p>\n
